How one young angel investor gives wings to start-ups

Gang Liu is an early stage venture investor to be reckoned with.

Listed in the Forbes 30 under 30 2019 ranking and as the youngest in LinkedIn Power Profiles 2018, he helps start-ups build exposure and connect to big internet players in China.

The Investment Director of Beijing-based Alpha Startups Fund focuses on early-stage venture capital, mainly in the sectors of enterprise service, consumer retail, fintech, AI and blockchain.

An aggregate of 146 VC deals worth US$5.67 billion were recorded in May 2020, according to China Money Network’s China VC Tracker.

Compared with the US$5.07 billion raised across 212 deals in April, the total financing amount increased slightly, but the amount of financing deals decreased by nearly 30%.

Gang joins Shirley Yu and Martina Fuchs to chat about his angel investment funds, the « dark horses » and the opportunities in China’s massive B2C to B2B transformation.
